Rita Tong Liu Drama Theatre
Designed for drama, small-to-medium scale opera and dance, and small ensemble music, the Drama Theatre has a maximum audience capacity of 415. It has a conventional proscenium and stage, but the auditorium is specially designed to minimize the formality of the stage-audience relationship. The Drama Theatre's extensive technical facilities also make it a desirable venue for trade seminars.
Concert Hall
The Concert Hall, seating 382, is a purpose-designed practice and performance venue for the Academy's own instrumental and choral groups. It features adjustable acoustics and a 44-stop Reiger Pipe organ which enables students to take organ lessons and give performances.
Recital Hall
The Recital Hall, with flexible seating from 134-202 seats, is a music performance and lecture hall with a range of audio-visual facilities. Its theatre-style seats come with retractable writing tablets.
Studio Theatre
The Studio Theatre is a flexible space with movable seating that can be arranged to give a number of standard arrangements such as end stage, thrust and theater-in-the-round. It can also be cleared to leave a flat floor. The potential acting area is surrounded by two levels of galleries, the first of which is used by the audience and the second for technical access and lighting.
Dance Studio 1
The largest rehearsal studio in the School of Dance has tiered seating for 100 to facilitate masterclasses and choreographic showcases. The studio has an overhead grid with masking, theatrical lighting and sound equipment installed.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre
The 600 seat Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre supports all manner of performances and events, from seminars to product launches and fashion shows. Excellent sightlines and adjustable acoustics complement sophisticated lighting and sound systems. Motorized roller blinds under the overhead glass skylight can create a blackout for projection and theatre lighting in the daytime. The sprung natural timber stage floor is suitable for dance, drama and xiqu, and adjustable acoustics optimise the environment for speech or music.
Atrium/Foyer
The Atrium is a warm, welcoming space lit by natural light through its large glass ceiling. Serving as the main foyer for the performing venues, the Atrium's 570 square metres of exhibition space on two levels are ideal for exhibitions of two- and three-dimensional art, crafts and trade product launches.
Béthanie Campus
Béthanie was built in 1875 by the Missions Etrangeres de Paris. In March 2003, the Legislative Council approved capital works fund for the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to restore Béthanie and two neighbouring Dairy Farm cowsheds as the Academy's Landmark Heritage campus.
Béthanie Theatre
This intimate 153-seat performance space can also be used for seminars, film screenings and corporate events. The spacious octagonal foyer lends itself to exhibitions, cocktail receptions and corporate functions.
Sir YK Pao Studio
This multi-purpose function room has glass walls to take advantage of the view in both directions, towards the Lamma Channel to the west and the Peak to the east. The sloping glass roof above provides a high ceiling and natural light. This flexible space can be used for dance and yoga classes, corporate functions and wedding receptions.
